SAP HANA Studio System Requirements
There are a few basic requirements you should check before you try to download or install the studio. The four main prerequisites your system needs to meet in order to run the studio are:
- Operating System: The studio can work with versions of Windows and Mac operating systems. However, Linux is the most common OS that the database uses.
- Environment: Your system needs to be able to run a Java Virtual Machine. The software will install or update a JVM along with the studio.
- Disk Space: You will need at least 190 megabytes of disk space.
- Memory: The system needs at least 1 gigabyte of memory.
Downloading SAP HANA Studio
Downloading and using the full version of SAP HANA Studio requires that you have a valid license. This section of the guide will cover how to install the studio software on all applicable systems. Operating systems that can run the SAP Studio include Windows, Mac, and Linux. We will take you through each process in detail and list any alternate ways to install the software.
Installing the Studio on Linux
There are two ways you can install SAP Studio on a Linux system:
The Installation Manager
- /usr/sap/hdbstudio is the installation path by default.
- Should you already have SAP software in the default location, the installation program will add a new, numbered folder to the list instead.
- The program will install GTK2 so that you can run the install process.
- Extract the software to your preferred empty directory.
- Open the root shell and navigate to the directory.
- Activate the installation manager using ./hdbsetup
- Choose your desired activity
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Exit the root shell once the installation is complete.
The Command Line
The procedure for installing the studio in Linux via the command line process is nearly identical to using the installation manager. The only thing that changes is how you call or activate the process. For the command line, you can activate it using ./hdbinst [<option_list>] from within the root shell.
Installing the Studio on Windows
Before we take you through the installation process for a Windows system, please note that if you install the studio in a default directory, you must have administrative privileges within Windows in order to write to or change the files. There are two ways you can install the studio on Windows:

- The default directory for SAP Studio is C:/Program Files/SAP/hdbstudio.
- Your system will create a numbered folder if the default directory is in use already. The directory will be identical with one more number at the end.
- After you have downloaded the files to your chosen directory, use Windows Explorer to navigate to that directory.
- Double-click on the hdbsetup icon to start the installation manager.
- Choose the activity you wish to perform.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation process.

- Extract the files to the default directory or an empty directory of your choice.
- Open the command prompt tool and navigate to your chosen directory.
- From the prompt window, use the command line hdbinst [<option_list>] to activate the installation manager.

Note that both the system layout and the default installation path for SAP Studio on the Mac OS has been changed recently. The studio is now installed on a Mac as an application you can run. 4) Once the download is complete, install the same on your machine
5) Download the SAP GUI for JAVA , from Service Marketplace
6) Extract the RAR File
7) And Navigate to this path

6) Once the installation is complete , you will find the “SAP GUI for JAVA” logon pad in your Launchpad
7) Next step is to add an SAP system . To do that open the “SAP GUI for JAVA” logon pad
8) Next select “JAVA GUI services” in the dropdown next to Delete icon
9) Now push the “Create New” icon button , button next to “Connect” button on the Top Left corner.
10) In the window open , add description and navigate to “Advanced” tab
11) Select the checkbox : Expert Mode and add the connection string as below
Make Entries ECC Production System:
conn=/H/192.168.128.53/S/3200
12) Once done click OK. You will find the new system added in the SAP GUI log on pad
13) Finally test the connection by selecting the added system and clicking on “Connect” button
There you go !! You are up and running.
